Crucial region games highlight Tuesday’s basketball action




St. Francis 69, Pinecrest Academy 31 — St. Francis remained unbeaten in region play with a lopsided win over Pinecrest (5-9, 2-5) Tuesday night. The Knights were led by Dwon Odom and CJ Riley who netted 12 points each. Caleb Snyder scored nine followed by Sam Hines, Chase Ellis and Jai Smith with eight.

St. Francis (13-2, 4-0) takes on King’s Ridge (10-5, 3-3) tonight. Pinecrest dropped to sixth in the Region 6-A Div. B standings with the loss. They will host Walker (11-3, 5-1) this Friday.

Mount Paran 54, King’s Ridge 44 — King’s Ridge suffered its second straight region loss on the road against Mount Paran.

The Tigers trailed by just two entering the final period, but were outscored 18-10 in the fourth and dropped to 3-3 in region play.

The Tigers take on region leaders St. Francis tonight.

Fellowship Christian 60, Whitefield Academy 43 — Senior guard Cody Frazer scored 17 points in Fellowship’s win over Whitefield Tuesday night.

The Paladins (7-8, 3-3) jumped to fourth in Region 6-A Div. B with the victory and take on Mount Paran (3-10, 2-2) this Friday.

Walker 58, Mount Pisgah 53 — Mount Pisgah squandered a double-digit lead and were outscored 38-19 in the second half to drop their Tuesday tilt with Walker.

The Patriots (7-7, 1-3) fell to seventh in region standings with the loss. They face St. Francis (13-2, 4-0) this Friday.

Blessed Trinity 59, Chestatee 35 — Blessed Trinity had three scorers in double digits and have opened their region schedule with two victories following Tuesday’s tilt against Chestatee. Junior Andy Swade led the Titans with 21 points, followed by Ben Shappard with 19 and CJ Abrams with 10.  

The Titans (10-5, 2-0) sit atop the region standings with White County (11-6, 2-0). The two teams face off this Friday.

North Atlanta 87, Centennial 65 — Centennial dropped its third straight game Tuesday night, falling to North Atlanta. The teams have now split the regular season series.

Centennial’s challenging stretch of facing Pope, Cambridge and North Atlanta resulted in three losses and has relegated the Knights (6-10, 5-4) to fifth in the region standings. They will look to get back on track against Northview (5-11, 2-6) this Friday.

 Alpharetta 70, Dunwoody 65 (OT) — Alpharetta needed overtime but downed Dunwoody Tuesday night to jump to third in Region 7-AAAAAA.

The Raiders (10-8, 5-4) led by four entering the final period, but Dunwoody (2-15, 1-8) cut the deficit to force overtime. In the extra period, Alpharetta outscored the Wildcats 12-7 to seal the win.

Alpharetta takes on Johns Creek (5-12, 2-6) this Friday.

Cambridge 79, Chattahoochee 57 — Kamar Robertson had another 20-plus point performance and Cambridge (15-1, 9-0) retained their spot atop Region 7-AAAAAA Tuesday night.

Robertson scored 23, followed by Bryce Boutelle with 18 and 14 from Kyler Ingram. The Bears will take on Pope (12-4, 7-2) Friday night in a battle of the top two teams in the region.

Chattahoochee (6-9, 3-5) fell to sixth in region with the loss. The Cougars play Northview (5-11, 2-6) this Thursday.

Pope 71, Northview 35 — Northview’s region win streak ended Tuesday as the Titans fell to Pope (12-4, 7-2).

Northview (5-11, 2-6) will take on Chattahoochee (6-9, 3-5) this Thursday and will travel to face Centennial Friday.

Etowah 53, Roswell 32 — Roswell (9-6, 2-2) dropped its second straight Region 4-AAAAAAA contest Tuesday night to the regions’ top team.

The Hornets managed just 11 points in the first half and were held to their lowest point total of the season against Etowah (15-1, 4-0).

Roswell takes on Woodstock (9-7, 1-2) this Friday.

Lambert 65, Milton 58 — Region 5-AAAAAAA’s top teams met Tuesday in a rematch of last year’s region championship game, but this time Lambert who came out on top.

The Longhorns were led by Damon Stoudamire’s 18 points while Colin Granger tallied a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Lambert, Milton, South and West Forsyth are all now 2-1 in region.  

West Forsyth 71, Forsyth Central 65 — West Forsyth prevailed in a tight contest Tuesday night to improve to 2-1 in region play. The Wolverines’ outscored Central 21-12 in the third quarter to power their win.

West (7-9, 2-1) takes on North Forsyth (5-10, 1-2) this Friday while the Bulldogs (4-12, 0-3) will face Milton on the road.

South Forsyth 60, North Forsyth 52 — South Forsyth ended their three-game skid with a win over the Raiders Tuesday night. The War Eagles now sit at 2-1 in region play with three other teams in Region 5-AAAAAAA.

South (7-10, 2-1) will face Lambert this Friday. North (5-10, 1-2) will face West Forsyth.



St. Francis 102, Pinecrest Academy 39 — St. Francis scored 55 points in the first half on their way to a dominant win over Pinecrest Tuesday night.

Knights’ senior Arynn Eady scored 34 points in the win, followed by Chandler Davis with 16 and Jordan Isaacs with 15. Nine players scored in the lopsided victory.

The Knights (10-3, 4-0) lead the Region 6-A Div. B standings and will take on King’s Ridge (6-9, 1-5) Wednesday night.

Pinecrest (7-6, 4-3) fell to third in the standings. They will host Walker this Friday.

King’s Ridge 37, Mount Paran 29 — King’s Ridge earned their first region win of the season Tuesday night on the road against Mount Paran.

The Tigers’ ended a three-game skid with the victory. They face region leaders St. Francis Wednesday night.

Fellowship Christian 56, Whitefield Academy 28 — Fellowship won its fourth straight contest Tuesday night with a lopsided win over Whitefield.

The Paladins (5-6, 4-1) now sit second in the region standings. They will host Mount Paran this Friday in the teams’ first matchup of the season.

Mount Pisgah 45, Walker 29 — Mount Pisgah ended a three-game losing streak Tuesday night, beating Walker by 16 on the road.

The Patriots (5-9, 2-2) now sit fifth in Region 6-A Div. B. They face St. Francis this Friday.

Chestatee 59, Blessed Trinity 46 — Blessed Trinity’s losing streak reached nine games following a region loss to Chestatee Tuesday night.

The loss puts BT (4-12, 0-2) at the bottom of the Region 7-AAAA standings with six region games remaining. The Titans face White County (9-8, 1-1) this Friday at home.

North Atlanta 49, Centennial 42 — Centennial’s back-and-forth wins and losses in region play continued Tuesday as the Knights fell to North Atlanta following a win over Cambridge last Saturday.

Even with the loss, the Knights (9-7, 3-6) retained third place in Region 7-AAAAAA. The will take on the second-place team, Northview, this Friday. Northview edged the Knights 59-55 in their first meeting on Dec. 1.

Alpharetta 58, Dunwoody 33 — Alpharetta improved to 8-1 in region play and retained its place atop the 7-AAAAAA standings following a lopsided win over Dunwoody.

The Raiders were led in scoring by Sydnie Ward’s 13 points. Kendall Phillips scored 12 and Gogo Maduka had a double-double with 10 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks.

Cambridge 45, Chattahoochee 14 — Cambridge jumped to sixth in the region standings after extending Chattahoochee’s losing streak Tuesday night.

The Bears (5-10, 3-5) now enter a challenging region stretch that includes Pope, Northview and Alpharetta. They face the Greyhounds on the road this Friday.

Chattahoochee (0-14, 0-7) are still seeking their first win of the season. The Cougars take on Northview (12-4, 7-1) this Thursday.

Northview 60, Pope 40 — Northview had three players in double digits Tuesday night and downed Pope for the second time this season.

The Titans were led by Ashlee Austin who scored 17 in the win. Eden Sample added 16 while Asjah Innis netted 10 and Maya Richards scored nine.

Northview takes on Chattahoochee (0-14, 0-7) this Thursday.

Roswell 45, Etowah 38 — Roswell scored just three points in the first quarter but bounced back with an impressive performance to down Etowah 45-38 Tuesday night in the Region 4-AAAAAAA contest.

The Hornets trailed 12-3 after the first but outscored the Eagles 12-2 in the second and 19-11 in the final frame. Roswell (5-11, 2-2) sits fourth in the region standings and will take on Woodstock (10-4, 2-1) this Friday.

Lambert 74, Milton 18 — Lambert opened a 22-3 lead in the first quarter and dominated Milton Tuesday night to improve to 2-1 in region. The Longhorns held Milton to single digit scoring in all quarters.

Twelve Longhorns’ scored in the win led by Jaleah Green with 14. Sidney Chason, Summer Edwards and Skylar Aledia scored 10.

Lambert (9-6, 2-1) will face South Forsyth this Friday in a battle of two teams tied for second in 5-AAAAAAA.

Milton (1-8, 1-2) take on Forsyth Central at home Friday.

West Forsyth 38, Forsyth Central 37 — Freshman Haylee Dornan hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to down Central in thriller Tuesday night.

West was lead in scoring by Nicole Tool’s 14 points.

The win was West’s first (3-13, 1-2) in region play this season. They will take on 5-AAAAAAA’s top team in North (15-2, 3-0) this Friday.

Central (7-10, 0-3) will be seeking their first region win against Milton (1-8, 1-2) Friday night.

North Forsyth 59, South Forsyth 37 — North Forsyth won their seventh straight game and remained unbeaten in region play with a strong showing against South Tuesday night.

The Raiders (15-2, 3-0) will look to remain atop the region standings this Friday against West Forsyth.

The loss was South’s first in region play. The War Eagles (11-7, 2-1) take on Lambert on the road this Friday.
